Welcome to Three Forks Peruvian Pasos

Our motto is Si Se Puedo, It Can Be Done.

In the foothills of the Western Sierra Nevada, below the snow (most of the time!) and above the fog (most of the time!), there is a bit of heaven on earth.  This is the home of Three Forks Peruvians.  On the map the 'town' is called Dobbins, boasts a population of about 900,  and is located in the historic area of the California Gold Rush of the late 1800's, near the town of Marysville, north of Sacramento, California. On a hill  where the only level ground is that which has been bull dozed out of the naturally steep slopes, numerous Peruvian horses develop mountain conditioning as they live out their days in hilly paddocks.
The original ranch site for Three Forks Peruvians was located near a spot in Trinity County where three forks of the Mad River converge.  That land proved to be too remote and undeveloped to be practical, so the mountain top in Dobbins was purchased instead.  Fiery sunsets are an almost daily gift, and the "stars at night are big and bright".  At 2500 feet elevation, the air is clean, the pine trees leave their sweet scent, and the manzanita colors the landscape.

The logo of Three Forks Peruvians is my daughter's drawing of RKR Don Yapa, the first Peruvian Paso Horse I owned.  Actually he owned me!  He was the start of Three Forks Peruvians and if I hadn't met him and brought him into my life, the past 27 years would have been vastly different for me.

And I DO want to give Yapa credit for teaching me so much over the 20 years that he allowed me to be his person - how to handle a stallion, how to think like a stallion, how to reach deep inside me to pull out strengths and abilities I didn't know I had - this wouldn't have happened if I had originally purchased a mare or gelding just to go trail riding with.  So it's been a real growing and learning experience for me and I feel as if I am just now beginning to understand what the breed in particular (and horses in general) is all about.  The Peruvian Paso is an amazing animal, so intelligent, so sensitive, and so forgiving (most of the time!), and SO MUCH HEART!!!  Yes, I have indeed carried on a passionate love affair for over 27 years and I have been blessed to be the temporary caretaker of many wonderful friends, who continually keep me on my toes, thinking and learning.

Perhaps I would have been doing a lot more riding and showing than I have but I would have missed out on all the fun of all the babies that have passed through the barn doors - one hundred ten from 1982 to 2007!
"Si Se Puede"  ( "It can be done" ) is the motto of Three Forks Peruvians.  Thanks to Yapa, who started it all, that motto has proved to be true.
I REALLY want other people to know that it CAN be done, your dreams CAN come true if you are willing to work hard and focus on the dream, and sacrifice whatever you need to in order to stay on track.
